Description
Hawarden Station Signal Box, renamed Hawarden Signal Box in the 1970s, was a Dutton & Co. type 1 design dating from the opening of the Wrexham Mold and Connah's Quay Railway line between Buckley Junction and Shotton in 1890. Set to the south of the east (up direction, or Wrexham-bound) platform of Hawarden Station (nprn 87101), it is a two-storey all-brick structure under a pitched slated roof with decorated bargeboards and roof finials. There was an external wooden stairway and landing at the north end. The frame had 20 levers; the box was closed in 1979.
