Cwmbran Stadium is located on the east side of Cwmbran Drive (A4051) in the Two Locks district of the town.
The stadium was built between 1963 and 1974 by the Cwmbran Development Corporation as part of their plan to create plentiful and accessible leisure and sporting facilities for the residents of Cwmbran New Town. The grandstand, with it's raked seating over a single storey, brick, building and sloping roof was one of the earliest elements, overlooking the playing firelds and running track. the ground floor building housed a gymnasium, changing room sand cafe. The sports centre to the rear, whcih opened in 1974, was designed by Ivor Dale Owen of the Percy Thomas Partnership. This complex added a 25m swimming pool, sauna, sports hall and squash courts. At the same date the running track was upgraded by the CDC to an international standard Tartan track.
The stadium holds currently 10,500 people and the main outdoor arena consists of the international standard athletics track and field surrounding a grass football pitch, home to Cwmbran Town F.C. The complex now also has an outdoor floodlit artificial playing surface for football and hockey and indoor bowling facilities consisting of six rinks.
The most recent investment in the centre is a state of the art Fitness Suite.
