Description
Capel Coelbren (Church in Wales) is located on the north side of Heol Eglwys. It is constructed of squared sandstone blocks and slabs with paler dressings, slate roofs and terracotta ridge tiles. The church consists nave and chancel, south porch and west bellcote, and is lit through lancet windows. An earlier structure on the site was rebuilt in 1799 (plaque in porch), the nave was rebuilt in 1885, the chancel added in 1905, and the nave lengthened in 1814 (the latter by J.Cook Rees). The church appears to have been extended at the rear.
