Description
Llangwathen Chapel is thought to have been located at Llangwathen Farm and may represent the chapel/church site of `Llandeilo Llwyn Gwaeddan? mentioned in a 12th century entry in the Llandaff Charters. Its exact location is not known. A motte (NPRN 276054) lies within a curvilinear enclosure immediately north-east of the farm and it is assumed that the church was also sited within the vicinity. A pond just south-west of the motte is thought to be the site of the medieval St Teilo's well. Another holy well, Ffynnon Ddewi (NPRN 32472), lies some 340m to the north-northeast.
