In the spring of 2015 Carmarthenshire County Council transferred responsibility for the upkeep of the Castle sports ground (or Castle playing fields) to the `Llandovery Community Sports Association?. This not-for-profit organisation was set up by Llanwrda Cricket Club, Llandovery Junior FC, Llandovery AFC and local independent school Llandovery College. There are numerous sporting facilities at the Castle sports ground, notably playing fields; changing rooms; bowling green and pavilion and tennis courts.
