Description
Situated about four miles north east of Brecon, Felin-fach is a small village 'is probably an entirely modern settlement of little historic significance.' There is evidence of a medieval moat about half a mile north east of the village (NPRN 306044). Despite this, it is likely that 'Felin-fach represents recent 'migration' of the older Talachddu during the 19th century, reflecting the increasing importance of the main Hay to Brecon road at this period. This is a phenomenon which can be seen elsewhere in the Borough in such places as Cilmery (NPRN 423130) and perhaps at Erwood (NPRN 423255).'
'The only buildings of any age in the Felin-fach are the large 18th century Griffin Inn and a post medieval water mill (NPRN 422865 and NPRN 24634), from which the village presumably gets its name.' There is one other public house in the village called 'the Plough and Harrow Inn.'
