Description
The Ferodo factory was opened in 1962 by Princess Margaret. By 1970 'more than 1,100 were employed at the factory which made linings for car brake and clutch systems.' It was situated on the banks of the Menai Straits, approximately two miles north east of Caernarfon and two miles south west of Y Felinheli. The factory was sold to an American called Craig Smith in 1997, and he renamed the factory 'Friction Dynamics.' Friction Dynamics 'called in the receivers' in 2002 and, although another company, 'Dynamex Friction' was set up, the site has remained empty since 2008 'when it was bought by Warwickshire-based property developers the St Francis Group.'
