Description
Tal-y-bont is a small village situated four miles north of Barmouth. Over the years, Tal-y-Bont seems to have merged with it's smaller neighbour to the north - Llanddwywe. On the first edition of the OS map, published in 1888, the village had a smithy and a woollen mill. Neither remain today, although Tal-y-Bont has other amenities including a hairdressers, an Italian restaurant, an inn called 'the Ysgeithin Inn' and a train station. There is a large caravan park situated immediately south west of the village, which is now larger than Tal-y-Bont itself. Llanddwywe's church (NPRN 43872) was first mentioned in documents dating to 1292-1293.
