Cefn-coch-isaf is a small two-storey farmhouse with side wings and detached large modern sheds. The two-storey south-west wing has a flat-belt drive wheel on its gable, showing that an engine or tractor could be used to drive something inside. The presence of a pond 180 metres to the north-west and two sluices depicted on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1875, 1900 and 1913 respectively, suggest that a waterwheel may have been used previously.
