DescriptionThe bier house stands within the southern boundary of the churchyard at St Nicholas' Church, Monington (NPRN 408690). The bier house is a Grade 2 listed building, for its group value with church and as good survivor of a rare building type. In 1991 it contained a pine bier dated 1796.
The building is squared with tooled corner stones and has a grouted slate roof of three bays with pegged trusses. The west door has stone voussoirs.
