Description
Cropmarks recorded during Royal Commission aerial reconnaissance on 13th July 2018 show a previously unrecorded concentric defended enclosure sited on a south facing slope below the summit of a ridge overlooking the Court Hotel, Lamphey. The enclosure is of Iron Age or Romano-British type with a polygonal or square outer ditched enclosure measuring approx. 140m across, with a circular settlement enclosure within measuring 50m diameter, the whole enclosure c. 1.45 hectares. The incomplete nature of the central enclosure and cropmarks of the bedrock here suggest the site has been damaged by ploughing.

Discovered during the 2018 drought.

Recorded during baseline aerial reconnaissance survey for the CHERISH Project. ? Crown: CHERISH PROJECT 2018. Produced with EU funds through the Ireland Wales Co-operation Programme 2014-2020. All material made freely available through the Open Government Licence.
