Description
An undated cist burial was found at Tremynydd Fawr Farmhouse, 3 feet below the surface of the lawn and reportedly containing `nothing but black soil?. Tremynydd was the site of a medieval vill mentioned in documents of 1326, so it is possible that the cist could have been part of an associated cist cemetery. An Iron Age enclosure (NPRN 423540), visible as a parch mark, has been identified on aerial photographic coverage, on former common land some 200m to the south-southeast. Castell Coch Iron Age promontory fort (NPRN 305401) lies some 500m to the north-west. Waun Beddau (NPRN 305374) cemetery is some 700m to the south-southwest.
