Description
Blaenplwyf is situated four miles south of Aberystwyth. It has a village shop which also serves as a post office. On the 1st edition of the 25inch OS maps, published in 1888, there is a 'New Inn' labelled at the southern edge of the village. It was still known as New Inn when the 1st edition of the 6inch OS maps were published in 1891, but by the time the second edition of the 25inch maps was published in 1905 it was known as 'New Inn Farm' and there is no mention of it at all on modern maps. At the turn of the twentieth century there were two religious buildings in Blaenplwyf, both of which are still standing today. The first was the Calvinistic Methodist chapel, first built in 1819 and replaced in 1878 (NPRN 97052). The second was Blaenplwyf mission room, built in 1878 (NPRN 12138).
