DescriptionThe village of Llansaint is situated approximately two miles north west of Kidwelly and seven and a half miles south of Carmarthen. The first edition of the 25inch OS maps show that in 1890 the village had three places of worship: All Saints church (NPRN 301821); Seion Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel (NPRN 6554) and Tabor Welsh Independent chapel (NPRN 6551). Llansadwrn also had a school, an unnamed public house and a smithy. When the second edition of the 25inch OS maps was published in 1906, the village had acquired another unnamed public house and a Sunday school near the Methodist chapel. Little had changed by 1913, when the third edition of the 25inch OS maps was published. The most significant change was that the village school had become another Sunday school, and a new village school had been built on the north eastern outskirts of Llansadwrn.
In 1996 this school became part of a federation of three primary schools - Llansaint, Llanynderyn and Idole - known collectively as Ysgol y Fro. The Llansaint 'unit' remained open until 2009. Llansaint also has a public house called the King's Arms. Tabor Independent chapel and All Saints church remain open, although the Methodist chapel has been converted into residential flats.
