Description
Pentrecagal is a very small village located on the southern banks of the river Teifi, approximately two miles east of Newcastle Emlyn. According to the first edition of the 25inch OS maps, published in 1889, the village had a smithy and, on the northwestern outskirts of the village, a public house called the Pen-sarn Arms. The second edition, published in 1906, shows that a few more houses have been built and that the settlement now had a place of worship - Tabernacl Welsh Independent Sunday School (NPRN 6611). In the 21st century, Pentrecagal has more residential dwellings and a petrol station opposite what used to be the Pen-Sarn Arms.
