Description
Pwll Trap is a small village on the western outskirts of St. Clears, Carmarthenshire. The first edition of the 25inch OS maps, published in 1889, records that the village had a chapel - Bethlehem Independent Chapel (NPRN 6653) and two public houses - The White Lion and The Old Red Lion. Clare Hill farm and Ysgubor-fawr farm both appear on this map as separate from Pwll Trap, but the village expanded in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries and now the farms mark the north western (Ysgubor-Fawr) and north eastern (Clare Hill Farm) edges of the village. Pwll Trap has retained its chapel and The White Lion, although The Old Red Lion has closed.
