Description
Rhydargaeau is a small village located on A485, approximately four and a half miles north east of Carmarthen. The first edition of the 25inch OS maps, published in 1889, shows that at the turn of the twentieth century the village had two chapels - Bethel Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel (NPRN 6557) and Horeb Particular Baptist chapel (NPRN 6575). There was also a public house called the Blue Bell and a smithy at Rhydargaeau. More houses were built in the village in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, primarily about half a mile north of the original village centre. Both chapels appear to be in use as places of worship today, although there in no sign of the Blue Bell public house.
