Description
Later prehistoric enclosure complex recorded during RCAHMW aerial reconnaissance in the 2018 drought, with the clearest photography on 19 July 2018. The complex comprises a polygonal or lozenge-shaped main inner enclosure measuring approx. 55m x 45m with a broad single ditch, doubled-up along the flat south-west side which may be the front facade of the enclosure. This is enclosed in a second angular enclosure with a narrow ditch set approx. 20m away from the inner, and a third outer enclosure set a similar distance from the second, angular in plan but more curvilinear, the whole measuring c. 80m across. On the south-west side a univallate annex extends some 44m from this cluster of enclosures, while an additional separate ditched enclosure can be seen adjacent and to the south of the complex.

The enclosure lies 700m downslope and to the west of the Wyndcliff Roman villa (NPRN 410589) and appears to represent a significant lowland settlement complex of later prehistoric character. Its position close to the Wye gorge may suggest a lowland seat of Silurian power in south-east Wales.
