Description
Blaenpant farm is located approximately a mile north of Blaenwaun. According to heritage consultancy Trysor, 'the Ordnance Survey's 1810 Cardigan sheet of the Original Surveyors Drawings and the 1819 1 inch to 1 mile map both show that the land around Blaenpant had been enclosed by the early 19th century. Immediately to the north was Llanwinio Common, which still survived as open moorland at that time, most of which was enclosed and turned into productive farmland during the 19th century. Only a small parcel of common now remains at Rhos Elwyn. The rectilinear field system around Blaenpant is clearly the product of post-medieval enclosure, but it had been undertaken by the time of the 1810 OS Surveyors' Drawings and is presumed to be late 18th or early 19th century in date.'
