Both the 1st and 2nd editions of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1880 and 1899 respectively, depict a corn mill here under the hillside below Llandough Castle (NPRN 19157). The mill took water from the Afon Ddawen via a mill race 300 metres long, and returned it to the river in a short tail race whose position can still be seen. The handsome two-storey and attic mill is built of well-coursed rectangular stone, with low-cambered stone lintols with dripstones courses above. It has been converted to a dwelling, with two-storey wings each side built of similar but less regular stonework. The water wheel may have been internal, housed in the north-east extension.,
