Originally constructed in 1818 as an eight-bedroom cottage named Dyffrin Cottage. Newspaper advertisements seem to imply that it was ordinally constructed as a single-story structure with an additional storey was added in the mid-nineteenth century, in which period the building was also re-named Glyn Clydach. The structure became a hotel in the mid-twentieth century and has been significantly modernised with large glazed additions and hipped roofs.
