Description
A large outcrop-top cairn mounded against a rock outcrop so that its summit falls level with the natural rock, which looks out across the southern approaches. The cairn measures approx. 5m E/W by 4m, with a summit forming a rectangular platform 1.9m x 3.9m across, partly edged with low upright stones. Its function is uncertain. Outcrop-top circular cairns on Skomer Island appear to date from prehistoric times with a burial/ritual function whereas the positioning and form of this cairn suggests -perhaps - a more practical lookout/beacon role.

The cairn was newly-identified during CHERISH Project fieldwork on 21-22nd October 2019. It overlooks square enclosure NPRB 424558 on the north side, and a rectangular platform (NPRN 424560) on the east side.
