The 1st and 2nd editions of the historic 25-inch Ordnance Survey maps, published in 1889 and 1905 respectively, depict a woollen mill at this location in the centre of the village. Water was diverted from the Afon Brefi by a large weir to the north of the church, and from this a leat meandered through the village and past the woollen mill and, after a pond and sluice, served Llanddewi Factory (NPRN 424588) . The mill has been converted to two dwellings.
