The 1st edition of the historic 25-inch O. S. maps, published in 1889, names a woollen mill at this location. There are three possible buildings, one of which is sited below a pond fed by a mill race 225 metres long from the nearby un-named stream. The mill race and now-silted pond are also depicted on the 2nd edition map, published in 1906, and this shows that there had been a water wheel at the north-east end of the mill building; but the sile is no longer named as a wollen mill.
