Description
Orlandon farm appears on the first edition of the 25inch OS maps, published in 1876. The map depicts a fairly large complex of buildings with lots of trees, and two sections of 'old walls.' The second edition of the OS maps, published in 1908, shows less trees but a complex consisting of many buildings, possibly of an agricultural nature. The 'old walls' were no longer labelled.
Orlandon seems to have retained some buildings of an agricultural nature into the twenty first century - aerial photographs show around five long, rectangular buildings with corrugated roofs and one is clearly a store for hay bales. However, it seems that the site's primary function is now to serve as holiday homes. The website 'coastal cottages' list 4 properties at Orlandon: Kelwon Cottage (sleeps 4), Smithies Cottage (sleeps 5), Orlandon Farm Cottage (sleeps 8), and Hoopers Cottage (sleeps 10).
