Description
The toll cottage dates from circa 1836 and is a single-storey, three-bay stone-rubble building with a slate roof and wide overhanging eaves. The central bays to the front (road side) and rear project, creating a cruciform plan. There are rubble chimney stacks with tall flues to either side of the centre. The south-east facing front has a central entrance with an adjacent toll-board to the south and a tall round-topped and painted gate pier to the north.
