Description
The Priory, built in 1840, is a stone-built 2-storey substantial house with a verandah to one side. An additional building, having decorative roof edging and a glazed section in the roof, is connected to the main house, and was used in different periods as both an orangery and a games room. In the late 1880s improvements were made to the house and the Italian influenced gardens. The house was used as a holiday home in the early 1900's for children from inner cities; and in 1930 was used as low-cost accommodation for walkers. In 1986 the Priory became a residential care home.
