Description
Late C19 and shown as a gold mine on 2nd edition OS map of 1900. The map shows no associated building. The shaft itself probably plugged. The top consists of a pit 3m deep and approx 6m diameter with distinct curved bank on downhill (E) side.
Late C19 gold working was referred to by Frank Simpson, who remarked that gold was not found in sufficient quantities to make a profit.
