Description
Irregular 4-sided grass field, approx 200 x 150m. Bounded mainly by tree-lined banks (hawthorn and possibly ash), surmounted by barbed wire fence in places. On the E side are sections of dry-stone wall up to 1m high, constructed of thick shale or slate slabs, laid horizontally on the steep slope. Moss-covered, with some hawthorn trees. Dry-stone walling also visible on N side, but some sections now earth-covered. Stone gate piers where path (NPRN 500289) passes through. Probably associated with Halfway House, and located N of road (NPRN 500261) and field (NPRN 500260).
This field, Halfway House and its associated enclosures, are marked on the Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd Tithe Map of 1838.
Recorded as part of Uplands Initiative Survey. W B Horton, Hayman and Horton, 18/05/2007.
