Description

The rampart ditch and bank are located roughly 10 metres below the inner wall of Crug Hywel hillfort, which itself is located upon Crug Hywel (Table Mountain). The rampart was formed by quarrying into the side of Table Mountain and using the quarried material to form a level walkway roughly 4 metres wide with a defensive bank a maximum of 1.8 metres high and 3 metres wide. The ramparts encircle Table Mountain with a circumference of about 400 metres. There is an entrance through them on the eastern side. The ground cover was grass at the time of survey. B.
