The earlier field system at Claerwen, shown on the 1st and 2nd edition 1:10560 Ordnance Survey maps of 1891 and 1905, was defined by earth banks. These can still be seen on the ground in 2009 but the fields had altered in shape and size and were defined by post and wire fencing. J.J. Hall, Trysor, 3 December 2009
