Description
Ruinous byre or barn structure with an associated large sheepfold to its south. The byre/barn is rectangular and well built, measuring 17m long by 8m wide and situated on a stone-built platform. The walls are double thickness and are unmortared and are constructed of small to medium angular quarried stones with rubble infill. An entrance is situated on the southern elevation but no obvious windows are present. Quoin stones are present in each corner and the walls remain up to 0.5m wide and 1.8m high but the gable ends are not to full height. The structure would have originally had a slate roof although this has collapsed. The site is marked on the current OS mapping. P.J. Schofield, OANorth, 9th October 2007
