Description

Horeb was built as an 'ysgoldy' in 1905, opening on the 31st August of that year. It was built as a branch of Carmel Independent Chapel (NPRN 8373), a report in Baner ac Amserau describing 'a prayer meeting was held on the occasion of the opening of the new Horeb Sunday School, a branch of Carmel (Independent) Chapel, Tanygrisiau, when fervent prayers were offered for the presence of the Lord in the new building, and the testimony of those present was that 'God is truly in this place'.' It was noted that this was the third branch established by Carmel, indicating the missionary spirit of the chapel and it's minister during the period of Revival. The designers and builders were reported as Messrs Evan Griffith and Sons of Tanygrisau.

Tha chapel is stone built of the gable-entry plan type. It is in the simple Classical style, with a central gabled-prch containing a round-headed doorway containing radiating fanlight, flanked by a tall, round-headed window with marginal glazing to either side. Above the prch is a Palladian window, also with marginal glazing, while the side elevations contain three flat-headed windows with similar glazing: all windows are modern replacements and it is unclear to what extent they mirror the originals. The chapel is set up from the road, with a stone boundary wall to the fore and set of four steps up to the chapel. Adjacent to the chapel to the south, is an associated chapel house  with the name 'Horeb House'.

The chapel was sold in 2008, and by 2009 had been converted to residential use. In 2025 is used as a holiday let. Photographs show that little of the inteior is intact, save two ornate ventilation roses to the original (now first floor) ceiling.
