The dock office is marked on an Admiralty Chart on the eastern side of Newport Docks at the junction between the two basins. Main port office Group of three linked buildings, oldest is the south end block, late-19th century constructed from red and yellow bricks with a slate roof. Interior has been largely modernised. The north end in red brick dates from 1905 and has a fairly impressive central atrium with wooden staircase.
This edition of the Admiralty chart was first published in August 1860 and continued in use with minor revisions until 1886.
