Description

The wreck of the BRYNYMOR lies in 76m of water and is orientated 290 (bow)/110 (stern). This large wreck is upright on the seabed, but degraded, it is 127m long, and 17m wide (McCartney, 2022: 226).

The wreck was originally designated by the UKHO as 'Unknown'. Research by Dr Innes McCartney (2022: 226) for the Echoes from the Deep project, following a detailed survey by Bangor University in June 2019, identified the wreck as being dimensionally, positionally, and archivally consistent with the loss of the BRYNYMOR (NPRN 273228). The record has been updated to reflect that research.

A sonar contact was reported in this vicinity by HMS CELANDINE in April 1945. This wreck was located by HMS BULLDOG in 1983.
