Description
A red and white vertically striped buoy marks southwestern tip of the Middle Ground. This buoy, together with the Welsh Hook buoy, define the entrance to the navigable channel around the northern side of the Middle Grounds.

Event and Historical Information:
This edition of the Admiralty chart was first published in August 1860. The surveys used to compile the charts were undertaken by Beechey, Alldridge, Aird, Hall, and Bedford between the years 1843 and 1867. This edition of the chart had extensive corrections in 1883, but remained in use until 1886.
