Description

This unidentified wreck (UKHO 7338) lies in 84m of water and is orientated 225 (bow)/045 (stern). It has a surveyed length of 35m, and a width of 7m (Bangor University, 2019). It is described as a small vessel, resembling a fishing vessel or small coaster, with a single hold and poop deck.

The wreck was originally located and examined by the UKHO in 1977. It was subject to a detailed survey by Bangor University in May 2019. Associated research was undertaken by Dr Innes McCartney (2022) for the Echoes from the Deep project, which was unable to identify the wreck. Although McCarthy did note that its form and dimensions were consistent with the trawler LOCH AWE (NPRN 801210) which was lost somewhere between Milford Haven and Chicken Rock (Isle of Man) in 1943. This identification seems reasonable pending further information.
