Event and Historical Information:
The DOVEY BELLE was a wooden schooner built at Aberdyfi by Thomas Richards in 1867. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 84gt; 73.5ft length x 20ft breadth x 10ft depth; 1 deck, 2 masts; square stern, carvel built; internal spaces discounted in the schooner's tonnage measure include a draft room, sail room, master room, and chart room. The schooner was registered at Aberystwyth registry (9 in 1867) by John James of Borth. The registry was closed with the annotation 'vessel foundered and was totally lost 17 July 1909 off Grassholm'.
