Late C19 spoil tip associated with a coal level (nprn 507417), first shown on the 2nd ed county OS map by which time the level was already disused. The tip is 100m E of the level and spoil was conveyed there by tramway (nprn 50742?). The tip is approximately 30x30m, but irregular in shape and formed of several spurs, and with steep sides on the N (downhill) 20m high. Grass covered, but many shale and coal fragments are exposed.
