Description
Relict field system marked on the 1889 OS as Pen-y-banc, although no building is shown. Where drystone walls survive they stand up to 1.5m high, but elsewhere there are banks 1.5m wide and 0.3-0.5m high. Enclosures cover an area approximately 220m N-S by 120m. At SO 07488 58119 is a small rectangular enclosure or fold 6x3m built into the wall, which is open at the N end. This was added after 1889 and by the time of 1904 OS. There are cultivation ridges (nprn 509735) within the enclosures but they may be earlier. Part of a farmstead (nprn 509947).
Recorded as part of Uplands Initiative Survey. R Hayman, H&H, 11/02/2010.
