Description
Sheepfold marked on the 1887 OS map on the N bank of Afon Dinam, and evidently used to gather sheep for washing in the stream. Drystone walls survive mostly to their full height of 1.4m, 10m WNW-ESE by 8.5m. There is an entrance in the NW corner, and exit to the stream in the SE corner. The fold is dubdivided into 2 cells by a line of slabs set on edge. The fold was extended in the C20 by creating a triangular space defined by posts and corrugated-iron sheets. The site was probably chosen to be adjacent to a small natural pool above a slight waterfall.
Recorded as part of Uplands Initiative Survey. R Hayman, H&H, 26/11/2010.
