Description
Sheepwash indicated on the 1887 OS map and used in conjunction with a sheepfold (nprn 513717) on the E bank. A wall is built 6.9m long across the stream, with an opening 1.7m wide for the channel, and a thickness of 1.5m. One surviving post shows that the channel was dammed using stop planks. The E and W sides have rubble-stone revetment walls, in each case extended by the use of small river-borne stones. The E wall is 6m long and 0.9m high, extended by a further 2m; the W wall is 4m long and 1m high, extended by a further 4m.
