Description
A rectangular stone-built wheel pit that is set flush to the ground level. There is no evidence for a millrace leading to it. The external dimensions are 6m long by 4m wide and with an internal width of 1m. The walls are constructed of quarried stones and measure up to 0.7m wide by 2m high. The pit has steps built into it on the west side and a drainage culvert out of the east side. The wheelpit is part of an extensive manganese mine complex (NPRN 514501).
