Site Record

A rectangular longhouse that measures approximately 14m long by 9m wide. It is set perpendicularly and is cut into the hillslope and has a hood wall on the east side and is platformed up on the opposite end. There are substantial double thickness wall foundations set around the platform that are 1.3m wide and over 1m high. The longhouse platform has been re-used as the basis of a later sheep fold, although the fold is smaller with only a single cell measuring 4m square by up to 1m high. The longhouse is one of a pair located in a deserted rural settlement (NPRN 514980). The site is shown on the RCAHMW Aerial Photographic interpretation. P.J.Schofield, OANorth, 24th February 2009.
