An anchorage is suggested by the placename 'Gunn Pool' or Gann Pool and a track which leads southwest from the pool along the edge of Pickleridge Common to Spedlling and the liime kilns near Cliff Cottage (NPRN 518612). modern aerial photography shows that the path or track is still extant adn that it also leads to the Steeping Stones (NPRN 515110).
