Event and Historical Information:
The Beaufighter was assigned to 1 Ferry Unit (FU), RAF Pershore. On 10 February 1945, it was being flown by Flying Officer A L Roe, RAAF, and Warrant Officer Newbry on a fuel consumption test. The aircraft was apparently endeavouring to avoid storm clouds and struck the summit of Aran Fawddw in cloud, immediately above the source of the river. There were no survivors.
