The remains of this aircraft are designated as a Protected Place under the Protection of Military Remains Act 1986. The Act makes it an offence to interfere with the wreckage of any crashed, sunken or stranded military aircraft without a licence. Event and Historical Information:
This TIGER MOTH was one of 2000 delivered between May 1940 and April 1941. It was assigned to 1606 Flight. The aircraft crashed after executing a stall turn at too low an alititude and failed to recover from it. There was no engine or structural failure and a breach of flying regulations was concluded to be the cause of the crash.
