Description

The wreck lies in 94m of water and is orientated 340 (bow)/160 (stern). The wreck is upright, although the bows have collapsed, it is c. 97m in length and 12m wide at the stern.

This site was located by the UKHO in 1980 but not assigned an identification. The wreck was identified as the RFA VITOL (NPRN 516136) during research by Dr Innes McCartney (2022: 211) for the Echoes from the Deep project following a detailed survey by Bangor University in May 2019. McCartney concluded that the wreck is positionally, dimensionally, and archivally consistent with the RFA VITOL, and the record has been updated to reflect that research.
