Description
A large area of sands backed by sand dunes. At it northern end is Whitford pile lighthouse (see NPRN 34289) and an area of quick sands at the mouth of the Whitford Pill. Broughton bay adjoins to the south, and the South Channel approach to Pembrey and Llanelli to the west. Admiralty Sailing Directions dating to 1884 note '? extensive beds of loose stones and muscle scar project from Whiteford point to a distance of three-quarters of a mile, connecting with the Llanrhidan snads on the east, and with those extending from Whiteford Burrows on the west?'
