This record comprises a documentary reference to a shipping casualty which has been assigned to the maritime named location OFF MILFORD HAVEN pending more information which may allow a more precise location for the loss to be assigned.

Event and Historical Information:
The TREDEGAR was a wooden sloop built at Newport in 1804. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 59tons burthen; 61ft length x 17ft breadth x 8ft 11in depth in hold; Sloop rigged with standing bowsprit, square stern, carvel built, a plain knee head. The sloop was transferred from the Port of Cardiff Shipping Registry to Newport in September 1825 with a change in ownership to William Jones of Pillgwently, mariner (32 shares)(also the nominated master) and Thomas Webb of Pillgwently, coal merchant (32 shares). Its register entry (15 in 1825 at Newport) was closed with annotation ' Vessel lost off Milford, Register delivered up and cancelled at this port in Christmas Quarter 1829'.
